Deciding how much to take

Dr Julie Moltke, a GP, expert in cannabinoid science and editor-in-chief of wellness and cannabis culture website Dosage explains:

‘It does involve light mathematics! Most labels advertise a percentage on the front, usually from 3% up to 15%. But this can be misleading – is this CBD or overall cannabinoid content? Instead, look for how many milligrams (mg) of CBD are in the whole bottle. For example, let’s say a 30ml bottle of oil has 1,500mg CBD. We know a pipette-full of oil is about 1ml and 20 drops. So that amount will give you 50mg CBD, and one drop has 2.5mg. Some product labels do the maths for you. If you choose a capsule, it’s easier still. “Start low and go slow” is my advice. Begin with one or two drops, with just a few mg of CBD, twice a day. You can gradually add more and see how you feel.’
